With low water and no rain The Trinity River is slow. Rain really allows steelhead to move up the system and get over nets on the lower river that mitigate healthy runs of fish through the entire watershed. All said, better days ahead once we get a good gushing of water.
Expect to work hard for your fish and going home empty handed is par for the course.
Better reports will come in. This is a great time to be on the Trinity and honestly if you don’t come, then the great reports will never be produced.
Hot lures are pegged beads and bait.
The hot fly seems to be a classic trinity jimmy leg. I have been mostly fishing the Lower Sac in Redding were the bite has been hot! Fish the Lower Sacramento if you must get into fish.
As soon as you see rain, be here the next day.
